Right then, clutch has never been silent on my 250, but quitens down when you pull in the lever. Been out today with me pal on his SR500 which lead to a fair old ragging for the bike (but I left the SR for dead.....) When I got home, the clutch seems even noisier! Any thoughts? Clutch basket dampers? Or could it be a gearbox bearing ?

Basket IS worn, but I can easily find neutral when its running. Better than Th'R1 if i'm honest? I have a spare basket so maybe worth a try fitting that instead. Thanks boys :-)

To be honest I did not see them myself on the Lc gears, but I was aware of the potential problem. I ended up buying a new clutch basket from Yamaha and I asked the about the lash issue. They said it was not a problem with new replacement parts so I took it no further.

In years gon by i used to fit any basket with any gear and never had a problem at all ever . Now days i do try and get the back lass as close as i can but if yours is ratteling and you have a spair id tryit some times its the basket center bush , but sounds like the spacer rubbers or worn basket but id just start with replacing the basket first . You can safley start your bike with no water in for a couple of minss just to see if its still ratteling and save you from having to drain it all again if you have to go back in. Remember all lc drag bikes worm up and do the run with no rad and no water in to keep the waight down so a few revs will be fime .
