Not too up on the early RD's, been far too many years since I've had any.
Would an early C or D engine go into the E frame? And if so is there anything else that would need changing?

yes
400 engine top rear engine brackets are different to 250
due to rubber mounts easy enough to make some

well i have a D frame with a 400E engine fitted so it can be done and nothing had to be choped or welden in to make it fit . of course im no A/C expert ether so it could just be a E top end for all i know . But im sure i was tiold the bottom numbers are E as well .
