Im looking for a little advice on something to 'talk' to my RDLC temp gauge. I know the obvious thing to use is the LC sender, but unlike most people i dont *have* to use that as i am running an athena 421 and the head has no provision for a temp sender and so far I dont yet have anywhere to put the sender, so i could use a smaller one, or a generic one that was much cheaper and more modern etc.
Since i dont have a pre drilled hole to put it in, I could use a smaller unit with a non tapered thread and a shorter temp probe which would be good as then i could put it in another place, perhaps by tapping out my KTM external thermostat housing or something like that.
Anyway, what i wanted to know is:
1, will anything generic 12v drive my the LC clock? 2, I assume the sender is not really a sender and that its actually providing resistance to earth via the water or something like that, or am i way off with that? 3, any help greatly appreciated! especially anyone else who has drive the LC temp gauge with something generic and smaller...
