Hi all, this question must have been asked a lot before but how hard/easy is it to get the gear selector shaft bush out and a replacement put in, what is the technique?

It's easy if the engines apart, just drift the old one out with a socket, I put the new one in the freezer over night & it tapped in easy

To avoid a full engine strip down, i've heard that some people have knocked the old bush through into the gearbox leaving it on the gearshift shaft. Then just knocked a new one in from the outside. Not sure if they rattle thou, but its one method of replacing without stripping the motor down again !.

You know when you are putting your cases together and you think there was one last job nagging away in the back ground and you just can't put your finger on it but you carry on regardless........... any thoughts as to how i do it with the cases together? You could try an expanding wrawl bolt & pull it out or cut through it with a junior hacksaw blade & fold it in on itself pain in the arse job though

Get a Bosch washing machine, well worth the extra £ and they can be repaired
