I have RZ350 carbs on my RD400 as that's what they came with. They are a little hard to set up but they work fine. I found they work better keeping the balance tube in place (they didn't have that when I got the bike) I run a slightly larger pilot jet and 165 mains with the needle on the lowest setting but I live up quite high and find that works for me. I'd love to put the bike on a dyno and experiment further with the jets and get the optimal...Anyhow, rd350's or rz350s will work on the RD400 but they do need some work to set up. Canucklehead

2R9 carbs are hard to come by but RDbreaker should have a set. Call Andy on 07725008024 or ask on the Aircooled RD forum.

1a3 carb bodies have the same air jet as the 2r9 bodies

I know somebody who's running with 1 2R9 and 1 1a3, with correct 2R9 needle, emulsion tube, jets etc. Air jet standard 1a3 and his bike runs fine.
