over winter i want to do some chassis upgrading on the 4LO, currently stock apart from 31K forks yokes and calipers. am i right in saying that the 31K swingarm fits in if you get the rear shock off a 4LO welded on? then can i run front and rear 31K wheels, rear disc conversion etc? could the same be done with VJ21 stuff front and rear, i know the forks and yokes go in but what about swingarm. or do i go the TZR 250 route, not sure so some help and advice would be helpfull, got to be done on the cheep as well ;D ;D ;D i'm handy with the spanners, can weld (but not alloy but i have a friend who can) not going for a handling updrade, more cosmetics if you know what i mean! i want to start collecting parts as soon as poss ready for winter build.

Hi, I bought a rough Lc project with a Ypvs conversion already fitted by Hejira. I dont think a valve swingarm slots straight into an Lc frame as it is wider I believe. Also, a valve rear wheel wont slot straight into an Lc arm - you need to machine the caliper carrier down. I had a monoshock 400e with an Lc swinger, and the valve rear wheel needed this mod to fit. These pics of my bike may help you; Bit of work involved whichever way you choose to do it. The Tzr 2ma/1kt swingarm might fit a bit easier giving you a 3 spoke back wheel with 17" rubber. You would need to match the front up though. Regards Dusty

looks good mate, i presume that is a 31k rear shock with the frame modified to take the top shock mount.

Hi A tube has been added so the top shock mount can be welded in. It's modded at the bottom too. The shock is a Spax unit

Blimey dusty, thats #### spotless, Have you got a rebuild thread on here? fancy doing something like this myself, but cant weld nice enough to trust it on suspension parts (don't mind welding a few unimportant brackets etc together though)

Hi I must admit I am fairly fussy about finish on bikes that I build. The Lc2 that I ride has only been polished once though in the time I have had it . There is a rebuild thread in the rebuild section under "new member, new project" I think.I had the crank rebuilt at Pjme about 6 weeks ago and have finally got around to building the engine, and today I fitted it. Also offered up my stainless Allspeeds which were originally intended for the Lc2 but will now go on the hybrid. The engine is an F2 and whilst it was apart for the crank I fitted an Lc2 tacho drive so I can use the Lc clocks. Will post a pic once my camera battery has charged up !! Cheers Regards Dusty

IMO the ONLY reason for fitting a Valvie swinger is for the slightly longer wheelbase. the Valvie swinger is steamship anchor heavy and the articulated shock linkage is only advantageous on a Moto X bike of the mid 80's.. and even that's arguable in hindsight. Some things were 'improved' purely for the sole purpose of increased sales.. Not performance. Don't get caught up short by the Brochure Babble.
