When you pull the choke plunger out it opens up a passage which goes directly down to the LH float bowl where there is a choke jet inserted in the float bowl. When you kick it draws fuel up through the jet, and up the drilling and out of a hole in the roof of the carb inlet in front of the carb slide. Also there is a drilling to allow fuel to feed the RH carb via the rubber link pipe. The float bowls are different as the LH side choke jet opening is drilled to allow fuel to be drawn where as if you look at the RH side you will see it is blanked off. This is why if you get the two mixed up you will basically have no choke circuit and it will be a pig to start from cold. Hope this helps. Tone
