i know what you mean, but i keep saying to myself ,if only i lived in the old dart i would save heaps, mainly because, postage to australias a killer and lots of people in the UK have a fear of posting hear for reasons unknown, maybe worried that stuff will go missing or couldnt be bothered to find out how simple it is and to do 5 minutes homework to get costing,, the few sellers who do post here get better prices i reckon, the way the world economy is heading IMO lots of people are going to struggle to keep spending big on their bikes for a while, im glad i got nearly everything i needed already before our exchange rates tumble.

gday midi, you are right, i havent been doing the LC resto thing for long, the parts are at times a bit crazy and they probably wont get any cheaper,i think what we need to do is workout where the retailers get the spares from and cut out the middle man,its just homework i guess i have almost got the parts for my XJ that i need at wholesale prices and i have to say it s averageing around about at 30-50% cheaper. in fact only about 5 months ago a got 3 genuine gaskets for less than the dealer could supply just the one, and trhat was including postage.

i missed out on a set of standard pipes last night, they looked in good order, had been sprayed before , a few small dents in one pipe. i went to 180pounds and missed out, i will have to wait for another decent set to come up and bid more, ive seen plenty of aftermarket pipes out there, i wonder why people dont make new standard speck, shaped ones?

That's the problem with resto's, unless you buy the bike ridiculously cheap you end up spending a fortune. I know it's cheaper to buy one that's already been done but then you miss out on all the fun/pain and satisfaction/frustration of putting it back together again.

totally agree wise i've just put my 125lc on ebay for a laugh just to see what the interest is. to be honest she's a cracker but i've done what i've set out to do, had 3 good months on her and just bought my winter rebuild so it's time to let go. tell you what though if it makes the £1295 i want i'm well well well out of pocket but as you say i look at her and think hmmm i did that!
