just been for a spin after rebuild and front brakes keep sticking on! I dont have the shims behind the pads at the mo', could this be the issue?? the bike is on standard lc brakes.

Did you rebuild the brakes too, as there's usually a load of gunk that gets behind the seals and does exactly what you've described.
If so, did you grease the seals etc with either red grease, or some people use brake fluid??? before putting in the pistons.
Is the master cylinder ok, and the plunger returns when you let go of the brake lever?

yeah, have rebuilt all brakes and replaced piston in master cylinder. everything was totally cleaned out, have just let pressure off at bleed nipple, took it for a run, seems ok now?? bit weird!

Have you allowed enough free play at the lever?

Take cover off master cyclinder and pull brake lever then release brake lever and look for a spurt of brake fluid, be careful not to spill any or get any in the face, if you dont see a spurt of brake fluid when you release the lever the small return hole to the left of feed hole is blocked, clean this out and all should be good.
