Just ordered a gear change shaft bush for an LC2 from Andrew off his site and was wondering if anyone had fitted one and if they had to split the cases to do it and if they came out without to much trouble. Tone

Hi Tone, just replaced one on my recent engine rebuild. Had the cases split anyway as recon crank required. Old shaft bush knocked out will little trouble, just used a deep socket of the required size and tapped it out from the outside in. I've heard some people have knocked them into the engine and just left them there until a rebuild was required as the bush falls into a separate compartment within the engine, so little chance of it getting jammed up in the gearbox. It would certainly save a lot of work.

Hi Paulo. Ok thanks for that I'm certain I've read somewhere that someone has even tapped in the old bush with the gearchange shaft still in place so the old bush just sits on the shaft. Tone

Hi Paulo Just wondering what engine you have as just been looking on the parts list for the 1983/84 LC2 and it doesn,t show a bush but on the later F1 and F2 it shows a bush seperate. Spoke to Taymar and they say the earlier ones didn,t have a bush fitted and it would be a case of machining out the case to put a bush in. Just wondering if anyone has a set of 1983/84 LC2 cases whether they could see if there is a bush in there. Thanks Tone.

Got a set of 31k cases with a number in the 7000 range so should be an early set and it has the bush. Steve

Hi Steve Do they have the tacho gear in the top case or is it blanked off ? If it is blanked off they could be from F1 whch does show the bush on the parts list. Tone

Hi Tone, got me thinking there so I've checked up. Don't have a LC2 parts list but I've got the LC & later YPVS (1wt) one's. The LC doesn't show the bush and the later YPVS does. So if your right and the 31K does not have a bush. Looks like my 31K motor I've just spent £500 on, may have unmatched casings i.e 31K upper with 1WT lower fitted - wouldn't surprise me with the mis-mash of bits it came with . Have you pulled the left hand casing off and had a look, it's very easy to see if a bush is fitted or not. Or by the way, i was a happy chap before i replied to you thread - non matching engine casings - don't tell anyone, as if i ever sell my bike, i can denie ever knowing . Paulo

Hi Paulo Sorry about that. You can see if you have a matched set of cases by looking behind the flywheel and you should see an engraved number on the Top and Bottom cases which should be the same.

Tone Hi, Had tacho drive but they can be fitted to any YPVS (exept R ) Engine number is 31k008*** so is an 83 Lc2. Number looks original and untampered. Have just had a close look and you can see the bush easily as bush is 20mm and casing hole is 25mm, can also see the ring of the outer edge. Unless mine has been retro fitted, if you remove the seal it is clear to see. Steve
