I had another go at trying to get rid of the very bad flat spot on my 350 Elsie the other night. Got stage 1 tune, Micron large Cans, Standard airbox, 31k carbs, boost bottle and spacer blocks. Atm had 200 main jets and very bad stutter between 6-7k then it flies 220 main jet still stutters but statter starts lower and is not quite as bad at 5.5k - 7k then it flies 230 main jets and the stutter starts at 4.5 k and it wont pull through it even in a low gear. Low to midrange is great and above 7k is awesome. Could the issue be the needles or the nozzle ? It is looking like ditch the Microns or a trip to Stan Stevens to sort it out !!! Has anyone got an elsie with Microns that runs good ?!!!

had a similar set up to you mate and i had to remove part of the airbox lid to get it to run better then it decided to eat a piston so went back to 4l0 carbs. you must do a plug chop with the lid modded as with 230 jets it ran slightly weak at full chat i also had a standard filter fitted too

i've got 31k carbs on my bike with 290 mains with dark tan coloured plugs swarbrick f2's, k+n filters, mick abbey tuned, 4lo needles, 22.5 pilots, it doesn't run too bad i can't see the microns being a problem, sounds like blocked pilots to me

Would it not be more sensible to invest in a 2 stroke specialist who has a dyno. I know that's what i'll be doing when the time comes.

I'd use Bob Farnham instead of Stan, he's a top bloke and loves the old smokers!
