How do Im putting new head bearings in on my 4L1 frame and the top bearing cup seems to be flush with the inside surface of the head stock so to speak therefore i don't have an edge to get a drift on to punch it out has anyone else came across this and do you have a way of getting the bearing cup out , im paranoid to try anything drastic as being a newby i could and probably would screw it up Cheers wb

Had the same problem just put a blob weld on the outer race and then tapped it out.

Hi Chippy Sorted , :-) got blow torch on gently for a bit then took a small flat head round the tiny recess and tapped away then on to a thicker flat head and it finally popped out so all good , thanks for the tip . Cheers wb :-) ps when all tightened up should there be any resistance at all in play of the head or should it be totally free ? mines feels i tiny bit tight ( they wont fall to either side under there own wait , i have to nudge them slightly from side to side ) is this just coz they are new in ?

They should really be free, back them off a little then rcheck after a few miles. As long as you can feel no back and forth movement when you rock the forks.
