ayup, ive stripped one of the fork legs on my 4Lo. Found allsorts of gunk in there and the spring is 15mm shorter than it should be which the po had compensated for with a 30mm spacer. the air gap was 5mm bigger than std and the head bearings were way too tight. No wonder the bike felt dangerous . What really supprised me was that the stanchion pulled straight out without bringing the bush and the fork seal with it. Is this correct or has the bush worn out? cheers, Andy

Hells canaries, that were quick dude. yea they are gonna get the works, its just that when ive stripped forks from other bikes Ive always had to use the stachion as a slide hammer to get the bush and the seal out, if ye get my ddrift. On this occasion the stanchion slipped straight out leaving the bush and seal in place and was wondering if this is how it should be

i don't thjnk the 4l0 seals do come out with the stantion from memory, i've just done a lc2 fork overhaul and i was suprised when the seal came out with the stantion, i was thinking i would have to lever the seal out

gday, the storntion does come out by itself once you undo the bolt at the bottom, the damper and little spring then come out if you turn it upside down,im overhauling mine at the moment, the fork seals are in tight and i tried to be delicate and got nowhere, so i got a blade screw driver and knocked that in and actually had to bend the seal before it would come out, make sure where the new seal goes in is nice and smooth.

Hi, +1 on Ken007. Ive currently got mine apart (had trouble with the seals too from being too gentle). Im currently looking into replacement springs. What Hagon springs are you going to run? My understanding is the 250lc ran a 400-183-00 and the 350lc ran a 400-183-04. I got this off the Hagon site. In Aust, they are 500-183-00 etc. They Aust rep told me the spring number is the number 183 and the 00 and 04 is for the air gap.... So does that mean they are the same spring??
