Again Took the P.O.S for mot today.it passed which was a result But on the way there it doesnt like to pull away without about 4k revs and it started to bog down If i was gentle on the throttle it carried on slowly moving forwards. After a while it backfired and was ok again I had the mot done and went to do some pictures.Did 70mph up a big hill, not flat out i might add,and it was gr8.Left there, gave it more beans down the hill all ok.Few miles along the road it starts dying again then picks up again. I pulled the choke on while i was doin about 30mph and it started to die,so i pushed it back in and it picked up again so im guessin its not fuel starvation I think i have narrowed the problem to if i dont open the throttle much it will go ok and pull right up to 9k but as soon as i get to about 1/4 throttle it just bogs n splutters Any ideas Oh yeah....and when i did give it some beans there was a noise which sounded like a kettle whisteling for a few seconds after i slowed down

I know my 125lc didn't take kindly to pattern head gaskets ,could be your problem or maybe the cap is faulty

Whistle WILL be head gasket mate as john says, as you all know I had terrible trouble with mine! Gave up in the end mate ;D
As for the running issue, have you refitted that nasty standard pipe? If so, try the Nikkon again and a 170 main jet. Check your plug as well mate, could be electrical or carb issue.
Just another thing which made me chuckle mate, when you said you were only doing 70 to run it in ;D that's about 85% of its maximum speed ;D either way I don't believe in running in any way. So I guess in my book your OK but still made me smile ;D

its a brand new plug, brand new non resistor cap, standard 190 main jet and now with nikon pipe.will be upjetting to 220.No need to run in as no rebore done. Been speakin to gaz who has been havin the same problem with his and it seems to be a carb vent issue.will se if gaz has rectified his tomorrow

Ah ok then mate and excuse my ignorance to the fact that the YPVS has a 190 jet as standard. Standard jet may be too lean for nikkon though and it does sound like a carb issue tbh, either venting as you said or maybe float hight or something. When I bought my NOS 10w carb it had a cruddy grease in all the nipples for the vent hoses on the carb, this led to all sorts of fuel leaking problems and so on at first but then I cleaned them out and it was fine Let us know how you get on, I hope gaz can sort his too because I want to see his in action
