Does anyone have any ideas or a "cunning plan" on how to remove the roll pin or whatever it's called from the helmet lock as the metal latch on mine looks a bit ropy and needs replating. I thought about drilling it but I know it's hardened so I don't think that will work. The other idea was to get it spark eroded but that could be a tad expensive. There must be some economical way of removing these bloody things as it's doing my head in ...argh

Unfortunately there is no hole the other side so can't do that. If I get a chance this evening I'll take a pic so you can see what i'm on about.

the best way to do it is drill a hole on the other side and push it through. then put a bit of chemical metal in the hole and paint over it.

Good idea - but I think I'll get a 2nd hand one to try that on first, that way if I mess it up (which I'm highly skilled at doing) I'll still have my orginal one.

Well that's settled then , I'm going to give it a go tomorrow - now where did I put that big hammer - just kidding ;D. It's times like these that I miss having access to my dad's workshop with all the correct tools for the job.
