Thanks Steve they are small and round them is quite solid and not feathering away so i reckon they could be brazed :-) do you think the brazing will be expensive ? Do you know a gestimate that i can go on for when i get quotes ? Many thanks wb

Bought this told it has done apprx 500 miles since re-bore , number on pistons is 0.5 , i've took blocks ,head, barrels, side casings off , oil and water pump out , spraying side casings putting new gaskets on , not stripping and blasting cases as im not confident enough yet to deal with the crank and gear box.... Picture of the piston head

Are you still looking for lc clocks, got a set I'm considering selling. Was going to put them on the Lc2 but not sure now, even got new cases from Norbo still in their bags. Owe me £170 though Steve

Could i do the brazing myself with the rods and a handheld gas blow torch ? Or does it not get hot enough ? Thanks wb Brazing rods melt at about 900 degrees and you can get a mixed gas torch that is 1400 degrees but that is flame temp and not the temperature the metal will get to as it will dissapate the heat. Will be about £40 for one and not sure it would work, did buy a cheaper one that was not as hot and would not work. Might be worth trying leading as this will work with a blow lamp and some flux. Either that or silver soldering. Try googling them. Steve

Decide to get it brazed , then clean it up and paint it , here's some other stuff that's being seen to this has been blasted im now layering up the primer at mo , this one to head bearings on the way , next get a spacer from Norbo , NK done a great job on the swinger and top yoke , swinger off to get PC satin black , im doing the yoke etc myself , will post pics when done , had bad day with engine but won't go in to that to depressing but lessons learned the hard way lets leave it at that.................. So today i concentrated on the wheels first time i've ever done this but so far i haven't bodged i think , going to let them dry for a week...

How Do It's been a while but here goes , not been sitting on my arse honest , been putting engine together and tackling everything else as i go which means building then taking apart , i know ( it's what happens as a newbie first timer :-) ) , but getting there slowly in between work and life , have decided to build as is without tarting it up want to get it up and running and worry about looks later , here are some run of the mill picks for now :-)

Thanks John the learning curve is also a work in progress :-) , i haven't sorted the steering lock stops but couldn't resist mocking up as i go and i thought the more i put together and take apart again the more familiar i'll get plus better at fettling the machine , i was going to ask you what speedo cable did you use to go from your rgv speedo to your rd clocks ? wb :-)

Have you tried the rgv cable to see if it is long enough, genuine ones are longer than pattern. I used a 600 bandit cable, you just have to cut the slot wider and a bit deeper at the bottom to get it to fit. Steve

Hi Steve Thanks for that i think i remember you telling me this before , that's it straight on to fleabay for a bandit one hacksaw at the ready , had a quiteer day in the garage , took the ypvs rear master cylinder apart and polished it but the little screw that holds the pipe to the main body was f%@ked and sheered aaaggghhh tried to drill out but stopped before i made it worse thinking of just bonding it on !! , but the master cylinder came up nice , spent time just looking at the back brake/cylinder set up and thinking about how i can extend the metal arm that comes down to the pedal , Norbo mentioned welding a bit of metal on , thing is i only ever welded once in metal work when i was fourteen Lol ! , and watching the penny's so we'll see , also need to get a spring for that set up as well , but all very therapeutic even when shit goes wrong , to all i will start to take more pics when im not so distracted , tomorrow is soldering the wiring of the headlamp now that i know i won't make a hash of :-) wb
