Hi Jolly,
10W is an unrestricted mark 1. UK Mk1's are normally 12A so it may be yours is imported?
Have you checked the frame number and log book or are you going by the prefix marked on parts? Most of the parts are shared between markets and are usually marked 10W.
Cheers
Andrew

Theses nothing wrong with imports mate , they arnt worth any less and they are not any slower then UK bikes infact some are faster as they dont have the 12BHP limet on them from standard .
...there is NOTHING to worry about.
10W is the "id" of an unrestricted model the full 21bhp model. 12A is the uk "id of the restricted model bike for the uk law.
10W are mainly german french swiss bikes as they did not come under the uk 12 bhp law so they got the 10W bikes over us...BUT some did come into the uk in the early days without the steering lock on the side of the headstock.
if you lc has a steering lock on the side of the headstock (left) then it is a foreign based bike imported into the uk on an age related plate.
end of day its still a nice bike and nothing to worry over as long as it has 10W 00 on the carb id near oil pump then you have a proper full power vertion 21bhp bike.
there is NOTHING wrong with them and end of day ALL rd's are imports anyway as they all were made in japan to start with...lol

I have a matching numbers 10W waiting to be restored. It originally came from Ireland. I bought this bike specifically as it WAS a genuine unrestircted 10W. I don't think mine has a lock on the side of the headstock I'll check next time I get a chance. I think ther is some "kudos" relating to it being unrestricted so I think you shouldn't be concerned. Cheers Andrew

Could anyone tell me if the 10W wiring loom is specific to the 10W engine, reg, coil etc. I am about to buy a new wiring loom for my MK1 125lc with a 10W engine. However, i dont know what my bike originally had in it as its had that many engine changes over the years.. is the carb tailored to the engine as well ie 10w carb 10w engine? could you mix and match or do you need new jets etc? how backwards compatible are parts between 10V 10W 12A etc with regards to carb, coils, regulators. Cheers
