Hey guys I've noticed a significant amount of clutch slip when doing rapid gear changes at 8k-9k. I plan to strip the clutch and expect to have to renew the friction plates. I remember on my original LC 30 years ago that I added heavy duty clutch springs at some post-tuning point. I read recently that fitting 3 tz750 springs is an option. Can anyone recommend a solution? Cheers

Do you replace all the springs for just some? It gear change harder on your hand?

I have installed 3 TZ springs from Norbo and the clutch doesn't slip and is not too stiff either. Why are you changing at 8-9k rpm - still another 1-2k rpm to go!!! Oh, and I don't use the clutch on up changes but only on the way down.

Mine started slipping when I got to about 7.5K at WOT so I changed all 6 springs for Norbo's HD ones & the problem went away ;D the clutch is still light but I have a decent genuine clutch cable & RGV lever & perch

Crazy that Yamaha didn't sort this problem out when it was in production? They didn't need to the clutches didn't slip when new only when they got worn, ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

XS750 EBC friction plates fit and have more surface area, 3 x TZ750 springs and no clutch slip even after repeated race starts. You have to dump the o rings though

i use 3 HD from norbo and 3 old ones. bought 6 HD ones but the clutch lever felt too stiff so i took it apart again and now use 3 of each. also kept the big rubber rings in as i don't exactly know what they do so thought best not mess with them
