Hi my name is Steve this is my first post on the forum, perhaps some can offer advise. I have recently bought a f2, so far seems okay but i have a problem, when the engine is running it is impossible to engage neutral when in first gear and difficult from second to neutral, soon as the engine is switched off clicks in easy. (clutch drag) Rides ok through the gears, this is a problem when stationary so far I have changed the plates, springs, cable. Lined it up and adjusted as the manual states, noticed when on the main stand in first gear with the clutch in there is still some resistance to stop the wheel by hand, but its better than it was. I have re fitted the old springs this seemed slightly better, so I decided to fit an extra washer inside the spring, a bit better so I'm heading in the right direction but is there any chance the pushrod may be worn the clutch does not seem to travel out enough.? anyone else had this issue. Cheers Steve

It's a common problem, even when everything is in top condition & adjusted properly they still dont like going into neutral from 1st. The type of gear oil you use helps, the very light ones help to stop clutch drag. When you changed the plates did you check the clutch drum for groves, these can make the clutch drag, also did you check the adjustment on the gear change selector mechanism.

Check if you are using the recommended gearbox oil, attributes like viscosity etc. could also adversely affect clutch performance and gear selection.
