At some point in nearish future I’m wanting to convert an LC to KR1 wheels, and front suspension. To my eye the straight and slender 3 spokes seem to go well with the LC lines. Sure I saw a conversion like this some time in the past, certainly saw a 31k with it. Not interested in the KR1S wheels, not a fan of that look, or "swept" suzuki spokes etc.
Anyone got any experience with this specific conversion? Or the 31k equivalent actually. Thinking the box section swingarm might not look right but the front end would. Any comment, experience, dimensions or knowledge gratefully received.

well i have this done to a ypvs and it looks realy nice . The forks and wheels look very nice as does the swinger . The front end had a new stem in it and the back was'nt to hard to mod in .
Not that this is a lot of help to you as a LC will be a lot diofferent at the back end . But if you look up Sponden440 he did my stem swop and at a good price and NK racing could do the back end .

I have KR1S wheels, forks & yokes in my hybrid.
Apart from the number of spokes I think the 2 front ends are identical.
I have the rear in a JMC swinging arm.
Hope this helps.
Oh and by the way, you are wrong about the styling. ;D

i had kr1 forks fitted to an lc frame and i used rgv 250 vj21 yokes as they only need a 5mm spacer at the bottom to fit them and was the same di's as the kr1 set up.

i Was thinking about doing this in the near future. To keep thing's simple and not upset the handling i was gonna use the JMC swingarm as it saves the hassle of new spindles, shock absorber, plus the kr1 B2 wheel is narrower than the S so fits without getting too close to the chain and torque arm. I would use a complete kr1B2 front end,3 spokes suit the period racer look, plus its lighter than the S front end and is more than up to the job. S uses longer forks(same diameter though),a larger wheelspindle, larger discs,4 pot calipers(so the forks arent compatible with both calipers due to the mounting holes),and a wider rear rim. The only thing about using the kr wheels is the 18"rear as tyre option's arent plentiful, they used to sell the Dunlop gpr70 which was cheap and worked well but NLA. But if you went the 17" route,RGV etc, then the rear end is sat very low so you would need aride height adjuster of sorts. Im with you on this,S wheels look ok to me but 3 spoke's look nicer! The great thing about using the jmc/metmachex swinger and kr front end is it looks part of the bike and not overkill like RGV swinger's and massive upside downie's with 160 + rear tyre's that look out of place against the elsie frame. Good luck with the project, Keep us all in the loop. Dave

That's great advice fella's, but CB, you are so wrong about the styling ;-) Dave32, yeah, the "spindly" look of the KR1 wheels suits the LC better to my eye and your dimensions and comments will hopefully be very useful. Good comment on the narrower rear and chain clearance. Not sure about the box section swingarms, what I like about the KR1 front end is that it doesn't look out of place on the LC, you can kind of imagine (at a stretch) that if the model had run longer it might just have ended up with something along those lines. I'm in South Oz now so unfortunately can't make much use of NKR or Spondon440 etc. Bugger. What that does mean is that 250LC's are more common than 350's, that most of them require a complete resto etc etc. I figure on scouring the breakers for (also quite rare) KR1 parts or hanging out for an ebay/local paper find. What comes up is very intermittent, much smaller population and what feels like an "odd" economy (a good few really cashed up and a lot of quite poor) adds to the strange inconsistent prices things go for.

Norbo, I suspect it was an image of your LC2 with KR1 wheels I must have seen a few years ago, on the YPVS the box section swinger would look quite natural, later model and all. Looked good, caught my eye at the time. Have you got any images of it?

Anyone happen to have any swingarm spindle centre to axle centre dimensions for LC2, KR1, LC swingarms?

Scott, I reckon there's more VJ21's around than KR1 units, mix and match then.

Scott, I reckon there's more VJ21's around than KR1 units, mix and match then. yes m8,i had the rgv parts and offered em up and thought gotta be easier than a stem swap. swingarm dimensions from pivot bolt to wheel spindle centers are approx m8 but close; lc - 440mm - 470mm. 31k/f2 - 485mm - 510mm. kr1s - 520mm - 545mm.
