Still can't get rid of my horendous flat spot at 6-7k and its messing with my fun down bendy roads ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) . The bloke a local breakers who races bikes tells me that only a retard puts Microns on an Elsie as I will never get the carburation right and shed the flat spot. He said if I switch to Allspeeds although I will have no performance gains it will cure the flat spot. When I told him I had stage 1 tuned barrels he told me never to go too far away from my house as the RDLC was one of the weakest engines of its time and only someone who likes hitch hiking home would tune one !!! F#ck I wish I could cure my flat spot to make him look a c#nt !!. Dropping the needle helps bike pull through into the red better but sill does nothing to cure the 6k wall. Once on 7k it pulls to self destruct but because of the narrow band a gear change puts you back to the flat spot. Anyone got any ideas besides buying an Aprillia RS250 !!

What microns, small can early type or the later ones? The early ones can be a pain to get the mid right as you need big enough mains to stop it grenading itself, they do give great top end though. The later ones are ok,and shouldnt be hard to get right. What reeds are you running, boyesens will help with the midrange. What ignition timing are you using,if its too retarded it will make the mid a bit sluggish. Another thing that causes a flatspot is running YPVS pistons in lc as the ports are too big in the skirt for how much the stock elsie reedblock can flow. Allspeeds, short or long can give a smoother power delivery than both microns. The elsie was meant to be tuned,a stage 1 is only a general tidy up of the ports and maybe a raise in compression(stock is ridiculously low). what airbox setup are you using? T

you could try a boost bottle in place of the balance pipe , it sorted my 31k valve out instantly

Large can Microns (cans removable) 31k Carbs Standard Airbox (runs better than with foam filters at lower revs) Engine ran too hot with foam filters . Have a boost bottle 1k-6k it runs great 6k-7k takes about a minnute to splutter through if you back off a bit. If you keep throttle flat it wont get through the flat spot. 7k- through red pulls like a monster. If i cant get sorted soon its back to standard pipes and standard barrels as a standard 350 Elsie would leave me for dead atm !!
