hi all , i noticed at the weekend that i have round hole in the top engine casing just around the engine number plate of my 250 lc. its defo a purposely machined or drilled hole does a gromet fit here or is it a drain hole, cant see any reference to it in the haynes. i know that there is one drain in the top casing which is normal but this one mmmmmmm not sure .

I think it's for the stator wiring ,rubber grommet fits into the hole

sorry cant send a pic and have no chain damage could be as john says the gromet for the stator wiring will send a pic when i get home ,,,, thanks guys

if it's behind the barrel near to where the stator wiring exits the crank case it's a drain hole there is another in between the barrels too
