Looking at sorting out my LC with the RGV front and rear ends i have lying around here and in order to get that project started I need to sort out a few things... one of them is tyres...
...the other one is that I also have a slight mismatch of parts as I only have the earlier 3.00 17inch front wheel, not the 3.50.. so Im also interested in hearing from anyone who fitted one of those thinner rim width wheels with the USD forks as well, I assume I might need to space the brake disks out a little and use larger spacers if the hubs are different... or did they use the same casting and just make the rim wider? hmmm, does anyone know for sure? I would love to just test the parts, but sadly my forks are in pieces and I dont have a front axle in my hands either...
Ok, tyres... in my hunts around the forums, the RGV boys seem to favour a 110/70 on the 3.00 inch front wheel. Ive found with google that that rim can take anything from the range 1.60, 1.85 and 2.15 and I think a 110/70 is an equivalent of the 2.15 but I coudlnt seem to make google work that out for me to be 100% sure, I think very few people use the older style 1.xx and 2.xx etc on the 17inch wheel size on the online conversions as perhaps by the time the 17inch wheels came out most people had moved to the newer tyre size system.
On the rear it looks a little simpler... I have the later model 4.50 inch width in the 17inch size and that is said to take the 150/60 or a 160/60 tyre but most people seem to think the 150 is more than man enough for the job on an RGV, and I would think that would also go for the LC too.
So... what have you fitted to these wheels on your bikes guys? Make and models would be nice too I guess, although I may not be able to find all of them downunder its worth a look if there is an obvious choice out there.
