Just about to put oil into gearbox of my re-build. Remeber last time I did this I put fully synthetic in and it caused the clutch to slip under loading. Any advice on this subject ? Know I can get semi-synth but cant seem to find mineral oil. Brands and shops please ?

Nothing fancy going on in these old gearboxes.

So the manual "Haynes book of lies" says sae 10w/30 and 10w/40 ! and hypoid 80/90 transmission fluid recomended. I have found some 10w/40 mineral oil in local motor shop what do you recon ??

Yamalube 10/40 would not allow the selection of N. GL4 75/85 Gear oil (GL4 means clutch pack Safe:-) Works perfectly. Hypoid Oil is ..unsuitable.. it's for Bevel gears

Ditto yamalube gearbox Oil, but seems to be the best so far, dont put modern car oils in there, as you deffo have a slipping clutch..
