Just fitted new Mitaka pistons & I bent one of the circlips trying to fit it. Bent it back to correct position with needle nosed pliers & it located in the groove ok. I thought these were supposed to be spring steel wondering weather to strip it down again & fit genuine Yam ones, don't want to blow me engine up for the sake of a circlip. Thoughts please

Go for a new circlip to be on the safe side. I am fairly certain the damage to this piston was due to a bike shop re-using the old circlips after a rebuild; It let go at 95mph in the fast lane of the M25, and totally wrecked my 400e engine plus my boxers !! Dusty

never never never fit a dodgy circlip.i bought an mtx yrs ago that someone rebuilt.ended up wi fect pistons head n barrel when the circlip gave out.turns out the nice chappy re fitted the old circlips.if i have one that flexes too much for my liking when i fit it it gets swapped.wdnt even consider one that stayed bent.
