Hi I have a strange problem. The bike runs well and the motor gets up to temparature as normal with the temp gauge needle reading about 1/4 of the way across. Whilst riding, I have occasionally noticed the gauge needle up against the stop and well past the red zone. I immediately stopped the bike as a pracaution. The engine barrels were no hotter than normal and the radiator was also hot, implying that water was circulating at least some of the time. I carried on riding and after a while the needle dropped to its normal position.
Has anyone else come across this problem and if so any suggestions what could be wrong? Could it be a water pump problem or a faulty sensor?

It could be tyhe sencer in the barrels couls be the guage on the clocks. could be a broken inpella or a knacked bearing stopping it turning them loosen of again so it starts turning . could be air in the sistem. infact it could be a lot of things . you neeed to try one at a ltime . be handt if you had a mate with an lc who could swop bits over go for a quick rine and try them out .

thanks for your reply. Looks like it could be a long job to sort this one out. Might start by looking at the water pump, although the rad does get hot so you'd think that thermostat and pump should be OK but there's only one way to find out I guess!

Hi, I would check the sender unit and temp gauge first before you strip the engine. Jess

If you remove the rad cap and give it a fist full you should be able to seea real good jet of water accross the top of the rad . But as jessy said id loook at the guage and sender firt you start stripping stuff down .
