Can anything be rectified internally if the speedo seems to lagg and also read too slow ? It seems to take a while to increase in speed and also seems 10mph too slow.

I think mine reads slow too. I remember mine being miles quicker in 1984!

Yama speedos are inaccurate. Even when Brand New if memory serves, although many , now 30 years on are wayyy off. Use a GPS and quantify the read error on your particular Speedo.
Not likely there is a reliable fix either.. yes one can dick a wee bit with the needle spring tension.. If capable.. But it's not a sustained effect. Been there done it twice.. waste 'o time is the easy answer. I've fitted a cheap Bicycle speedo gizmo. Small , unobstrusive .. cheap! and surprisingly easy to read.. choose carefully though, some are better for this than others. Caveat: these only read to 99 so if you choose Kilometers/hour the thing is less capable than if you choose Miles/hour

Had this with a ypvs speedo, it seems the lubrication on the pivot dries up up and becomes sticky. WD40 freed mine off.

Do you have to take th espeedo apart or can anything be done with it just out of the housing, both mine have stopped, and don't really want to naff them up if a well aimed drop of oil will free them off somehow (speedo and rev counter) was toying with the idea of a drill left on for hours, until the battery went flat.
