Morning all, frustration abounds i can't get any tension in the old clutch department. so far i have changed the cable and have the following probs. 1, The clutch cable seems to be a smidge too long but reading the threads on here that seems to be par for the course. 2, The release shaft seems to be resting on the crank case where the engine number is stamped, i am sure thats wrong but i can't get enough tension in the cable to pull it away, can it be out of line, do i need to refit the shaft 3, With the little bit of tension i have (thats the clutch not me!!!!!) only the pressure plate and the friction plate adjacent to it move. I have checked and there is a ball bearing at the end of the Pushrod. I apologize in advance for my mechanical knowledge it's been donkey's since i last worked on a power valve.

Hi daglad, been having similar problems with mine (YPVS motor in LC frame). The arrow mark on the release shaft needs to align with the arrow index mark on the engine. My old cable couldn't achieve this so purchased a new one - even that takes 3/4 adjustment at the lever before the two marks align. Then adjust the clutch adjust screw (on end of pressure plate) in until slight pressure is felt, back it off 1/4 turn and nip up lock nut. If you can't achieve this alignment of the two marks with your new cable, one possible course may be routing, i know with mine, i could shorten / lengthen depending on how i routed the cable. How this helps a little. Norbo does replacement cables if you still have no luck, maybe a phone call with your current cable length measurement at hand to compare with his ??.

Thanks paulo, i didn't realize there are aligning marks on the release shaft. You wouldn't believe the different cable routes i have tried i think at one point i contemplated wrapping it round the rear wheel spindle lol.
I am going to throw some new plates in as well just for good measure. I will let you know how i get on.
