Some little monkey has opened up the windows on my pistons I think. I wondered if anybody would know why he would have done it ? I am in the process of rebuilding it and the knew pistons have windows half the size ! Attachments:

That's the thrust side of the pistons...happily they didn't breakup, that's the usual result of ham fisted work.

Your modded pistons remind me of the ones I had in my old 400e. This picture shows a standard 400 piston on the left, the "tuned" 400 piston in the middle and whats left of it's modded other half on the right !! The result of a pant filler at 95mph in the fast lane on the M25 trying to get back in time for a night shift after Box Hill; A motorcycle mechanic re-used the circlips after stripping the engine to do some work. I had a pillion on the back at the time as well. The broken conrod spun round on the crank and wrecked the cases too, and took a big chunk out of the barrel on that side. Found a lot of those bits in the downpipe I build my own engines now !! Dusty

The other piston did break up and that is why I am rebuilding. It sheared around the skirt ! I pulled clutch in when I heard the expensive sound and got away with it !

On investigation its been bored right out so I am going for DT 125 pistons. The head has some damage have polished it but still some pitting will this be a problem ?
