was getting an occasional clunk from the rear wheel so stripped this morning.and both bearings f**ked! cush drive one is in bits.ball bearings rolling all over the place the sealed ones on the other side rattle cant get the shell of the cush side bearing out,any ideas? these were new bearings 200 miles ago is there anything that ive done putting them in.that could have caused the problem? the loose boss in the middle of the wheel was fitted cheers andy

did you put the spacer in between cush drive bearing and left hand bearing ?

I would say they are either crap bearings or you've damaged them while fitting.
Did you bang them in? If so did you ensure you only drove them in using the outside cage and not the centre race?

The middle bearing was a tight fit The outer race is still in place and can't remove it.right up against the fitting lip, any ideas on removal?
Put me spare 250 wheel in for the time being
Sealed outer bearing(brake shoe side) seems gone aswell

if theres no access to knock them out with a drift, u either very carefully die grind through untill u leave the race as thin as poss then tap with a chisel an u shud crack the race allowing easy removal, or u can weld onto them , keep building up the weld slowly until u have a suitable part to knock/tap them out, hope that helps its how i always got tight ones out

you could try welding a bolt across the race and knock it out from the other side with a drift and a big hammer,i've used this method before without any problems

hi guys managed to get the bearing out only trouble is its damaged the rim of the hub where it sits a piece has broken off the locators on the sprocket hub wont push right up into the bearing holder must have warped a bit with welding so looks like im on the lookout for a new back wheel
