hi everyone. i have just finished putting my lc together and tried to get her going but no luck really.
she starts up and revvs ok with the choke on but take the choke off it runs perfect for 10-20 seconds then just dies.
it will repeat this as much as you like but wont run more than 20 seconds with the choke off.
i have tried another set of carbs on as i thought it might be fuel starvation but its just the same, the petrol is coming out the tank ok as well.
any advice will be appreciated

have you got the oil lines hooked to thwe carbs? or r u running pre mix? the reason i ask,i started mine for the first time last week, like yrs, started and revd lovely, but wdnt idle.i wound the idle screws in a little, then realised i hadnt blocked the oil feed on the carbs.i ran the oil line from one carb to the other, and it idled fine. if not maybe you have a slight air leak? or maybe just need the idle screws turned in a bit?

Cheers for the reply, oil pipes are connected to the carbs, might be an air leak but can't see where from?

if you've got some carb cleaner,or something similar, spray it around yr carbs and rubbers with the bike running.if there is a leak, the revs will either rise,or it will die as the cleaner is sucked in.

Still no joy, sprayed around carbs and rubbers but made no difference at all,the other thing is the bike won't start at all unless I spray a touch of carb cleaner in first then it will fire right up and rev ok for about 10 seconds then cut out

Do you have the choke balance pipe fitted (small length of rubber hose between carbs)?

yes mate pipe is fitted just put on another set of reed valves and rubbers from a running bike and its still the same? once its started with the carb cleaner it will start all the time on choke untill the next day it needs the carb cleaner again its really doing my head in this ,2 sets of carbs,2 sets of rubbers and 2 sets of reed valves. what else is there to try?

how fast should the fuel be coming out the fuel tap ?
it sounds like its fuel starvation to me but the bowls are always full unless they are not filling back up quick enough.
but it looks a nice steady flow of fuel from the fuel pipes

i agree it sounds like fuel starvation.you sure the jets arent blocked? i think i would strip the carbs and give them a good clean.have you checked/adjusted the airscrew at all? may be worth checking them before you strip the carb down,in case theyre in a box at the back of the shed.
