nitromors does the job although its a messy job.......... when i was at college i was tought to lightly score the surface of the old paint/laquer with a blade then apply a light yet even coat of paint stripper then quickly cover the whole area of paint stripper with a plastic sheet (cut up bin bag is ideal) this keeps the nasty fumes under the plastic and makes the paint stripper more effective and far less messy as when you remove the plastic sheet most of the melted paint is already stuck on the plastic sheet. also the stripped alloy should be throughly washed after to ensure all the paint stripper is gone. a old bank card or filler spreader is also good for removing the stripped paint, hope this helps

NOOOOOOOOO Autosol and wire wool is far too harsh and abrasive! I use some polish called maguirs, it is far less abrasive and puts a protective film over the alloy!

Maintaining it isn't that bad, it never sees rain or salt! And the maguirs polish puts a coating on which keeps it nice! Forks, top yolk, brake plate, caliper and foot rest hanger are all this shiny
