The enging i have is off to be rebuilt next week..its in a bit of a state to look at..oil grime...etc am going to gunk and power wash tomorrow before it goes to be done..will this bring the engine up reasonably tidy or would vapour blasting/powder coating/spraying be worth doing..cant find any local vapour blasters but seems quite expensive and dont really like the sound of stripping every steel, rubber bit off..any sugestions?
Cheers

Hi, It all depends on how you want your rebuilt engine to look. For me, as I am rebuilding the whole bike and want it mint, I will get my cases and barrels vapour blasted. You would have to strip the cases of all bearings, selector drum, in fact anything that can be removed should be. The process will not damage bearing surfaces. I also put bolts into any blind holes so the slurry cant get in. The results are amazing; I always take my parts to Cox and Son in Reading, who does them while I wait if I let him know before hand. My last set of 400e cases cost £30.00. Hope that helps. Regards Dusty

Just found a place less than 10 miles from me that do vapour blasting for 38 quid an hour so that was a result.
