rd 250 lc 81'
Revs fine and pulls into powerband although just stops at 7000 rpm, im looking for possible causes.
Carbs all cleaned and standard jetting, air filter, exhausts etc. New plugs mixture seems ok.
Bike was running with too much oil wen i got it so im wondering if i need to clean out the exhausts?
Has anyone used caustic soda? Were these ever restricted?
cheers

Plugs might be shot or could be blocked pipes. But could also be ignition....

Is your rev counter faulty?

Is your rev counter faulty? That crossed my mind, didn't think it would be too much in the powerband at 7K Steve.

Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming.
Spark plugs are new, retried the old ones no difference. Gonna try the casutic soda in the pipes, although cant remove one of the baffles (any ideas?) carb slides should be fine, although surely there identical?? rev counter, never thought on that one how would i check? Timing will have to check that also. Also there a set distance for the pickup to be from the flywheel?
cheers

carb slides should be fine, although surely there i dentical?? the groves on the side of the slides are different if you've mixed them up by putting the left hand slide in the right hand carb they will be both facing the wrong way. if you can see the dots in the windows to syncronize the carbs they are right. a few peoploe have been caught out by this.
