I've got a 9"x3" plate & plod hate these, got stopped by the filth & my mate had a 7"x5" plate. So they started measuring the letters etc which were identical size on both plates & they nicked me & let him off. b*****dS

Digits on the plate meant nothing to me but deliberately chosen to fit into each other simply cause I hate big plates. Managed to get L7 AYA onto an 8x3. Then found out it was illegal to have them in one line. Never got any hassle from plod about it but sold it as I recon it was cursed. 20 years of riding without a crash then binned the two bikes I had it on. Steve

In my experience 7x5 is deffo a plod puller, well around here it is anyway . 9in x 7in is legal size but I run all my bikes on 8 x 6 and they look smaller enough but never been pulled with one.

im sure the plate on my f2 is even bigger then the standard 9 x 7 size as its got a inch or so on the bottom for all details of my local yam dealer that supplied the plate,i must admit it looks a bit gay and highlights how skinny my 110 rear tyre is so i might treat my self to a 7 x 5 with slightly smaller didgets this spring.

I stick with legal number plates as I dont want to attract Rozzas attention. Its just not worth the hasstle of getting pulled.

8" x 6" for me too. Looks almost standard but fits nicely between the indicators on my tail tidy.

my brother had a 7x5 and got pulled and fined. But his bike was rough and looked like it had been nicked

i run 7x6 and passes mot and never been pulled (yet). they had a blitz at squires cafe a few months back and went in with tapes and books and fined any that were not legal...they looked right past mine and told me it was legible and clear although smaller...they go for the one liners on bikes...and if you got em you WILL be done ....my mot place says there is still a grey area over plates tbh....so as long as it can be a 2 liner and read clearly at 25m and fonts of letters are standard you may be ok.....i have never been pulled with mine and mine's 7x6 but have a 7x5 on my x7. gaz well thanks for your advice lads i,ve ordered a 7.5 x 6.5 just to be on the safe side like you say gaz it ant worth the stress with the plod , round here in herts the traffic plod are ok but you never know when the odd c**t will pull ya
