Hey guys, our youngest son has recently passed his CBT and bought our eldests Rieju RR50 Castrol (nice ped), our eldest has now done his part 2 and gone against the grain and got himself a Bandit 600. However the youngster wants to go faster so I've stuck a crosser tail pipe on the 50 and I swear the bhp has doubled. I've eliminated the mid range splutters and the thing just keeps revving, but it's rediculously noisy and there is no stamps on the pipe to say it's legal or not. Is this asking for trouble?

There is a decabell limet for the roads but unless he gets puled i would'nt worry and you can weld a tip on the pipe this will reduce the sound coming out . But leagaly they have to have a stamp on them . But no after market pipe has them .

i think for mot they dont have to be marked its up to the testers discretion wether he thinks its too loud or not, i have a yoshi can on my gixer with no marks at all and it just went through mot no bother, as regards your local plod it all depends wether they discriminate against bikes or not, the durham police force is probably the best in the country, no fixed cameras only a few mobile ones and they dont bother about loud pipes, dark visors and small plates unless its stupidly small like reflector sized

At the centre i go to they arent bothered. They only fail it if it says Race Use Only. And they dont mind if you hide it with a sticker

just had mine done with loud pipes and small plate but a lot of centres want the bike back to standard prior to testing, its a case of finding one who will use some discretion.

If he's only 16 he may not be licenced or insured to ride a bike that's modified!
It should be designed not to do over 30mph

i agree with all the above posts about the plod not being too bothered and to be honest most 50cc and 125cc bike are slightly modified by there teenage owners in hope for more power, when i was a lad the bike to have was a ar50 complete with ar80 top end or complete motor for the extra gear if you was brave enough and the plod never clocked on once. i remember at 16 my little honda melody only did 30 mph because i was poor and my more wealthy mates had ar's,dt's derbys etc and some claimed 70mph which for a 16 year old lad fresh from his bmx seem like the fastest thing on the road at the time
