Hey there, long time lurker here lol. My dad's had 125 LC's for the guts of 20 years and about 5/6 years ago we spent about a year restoring his Mk2 125 LC (Full power, tuned.) I wasn't overly keen on them until I had a run on his, the two powerbands in 2nd and 3rd, the noise, constant struggling under full throttle to keep the front end down - I was lost for words, I didn't think a 125 would ever thrill me in that way! I needed to have one! My previous bike experience isn't great as I'm only 24 but have always had a hard-on for two-strokes. My first bike was an AR50, Which was 'slightly' tuned... 93cc big bore kit, Aprillia RS125 carb, Piper X filter, AR80 gearbox (6 speed) AR80 head, etc etc. But that was blowing up every other week and I outgrew it, got a Mini and started my collection of mini's. After a couple of years terrorizing the streets in a 1480cc 1971 Mini with a Weber 40, MED Stg3 head, Jack Knight straight cut gearbox etc and the inevitable happened, I lost my license in it! After that I returned to my provisional license and bought a AR125, this thing was dead as hector, my '50' would have out paced it right through the gears and even beat it top end (50 was recorded at 86mph and the 125 never went over 65.) Then I bought a cheap RS125 (Spit.) and drove it for almost a year, I only mildly tuned this one, Arrow exhaust, PiperX, CDI box mod etc. Then this morning I was dragged into the garden and presented with my own 1984 MK1 RD 125 LC in Candy blue, Matching numbers, 10w engine, 21k on the clock but full engine/box rebuild in 2006 (900 miles since) Now, the Mk1 isn't in great shape but everythings there to make it what it once was (with alot of elbow grease!) Here's some pictures of it in the shed beside dad's red Mk2. Both the bikes are getting an extensive rebuild over the next 3/4 months, hoping to have them ready for summer. Sorry for the crappy pictures, it's far too cold/snowy to be pulling it out of the shed. I'll get some better pics later this evening.

Nah, the blue ones a 10w with matching engine and frame. The red ones a 1986 Mk2. I knew it had a mk2 front end on it, personally I prefer this to the equal sized wheels of the mk1, I also prefer the clock binnacle and bars. I've a couple of boxes of bits for the LC and 2 spare frames, 3 engines (all 10w) a few carbs and just random bit and bobs. Hopefully it shouldn't be too much ballache to get the mk1 looking ship-shape again Always liked my older 2-strokes and cars Robbo, I guess it's just a thing. Far easier making old 2-strokes quick than trying to tune the likes of an RS125. Plus, even if you tune an RS125 to be a weapon, your still stuck with an Aprillia and full ferings at the end of the day

Just spent about 3 hours stripping the bike to see what parts I need for the rebuild. So far it's looking like all I need is silly things like Grips, foot peg rubbers, speedo cable, front disk, front pads, rear pads and servicing parts. The oil has crystalized in the bike, the pipes are all blocked. Anyoe have any tips on how to rectify this? Also the casting above the flywheel has cracked and theres a small 5p piece sized hole, I've asked everyone I know that welds can they fix it and they are unsure what the actual metal is? Has anyone ever repaired this before? I don't want to change the engine as it matches the frame and log book The Barrels marked 10w, as is the engine and the carbs marked 1GU - 10 and it has a really tatty allspeeds exhaust on it. Supposedly when it was going it was very, very quick. Heres hoping 1GU is an unrestricted carb isn't it?

Ended up finishing this over the pandemic. It has decals now but I've no newer pics, it's currently getting a 170 kit fitted ready for the better weather coming in.
