Been thinking about my 4LO LC shock and its looking manky, so thought id buy an upgrade but the cool ones NK and Nrobo sell are a bit outa my price range, so i was thinking what else can i fit? On my YPVS im going to fit an R6 shocker and there are lots of them on ebay for cheap etc.
I was chatting to a forumer mate about his slightly raised LC rear and he mentioned his bike has an RD125LC shocker (not sure which model tho) and I liked the look... so maybe thats a goer, but got me wondering what else is out there to get the same look but also with some adjustability etc.

Sorry for the highjack!
Does the R6 shock bolt straight on to the YPVS or are there other mods?

Thats a superb transformation! wow.
Does anyone know if the SV650 shock have any adjustibility? And I should ask... how much longer is it than the original, Im not looking to jack the bike up hooooge, just a subtle kick. :

here's what jessy put in his thread but he had uprated forks so not sure how in would react with lc forks.....
Scott, the sv650 shock is about 25mm longer than the std lc, you need to drill out the lower mount to 12m and the top is 10mm so you need a spacer10-12mm, I was lucky and found a spacer at work, then it just bolts in. you can pick them up cheap off ebay nearly new ones.

I struggled to find a decent LC125 shock, so went with SV650 shock, I think it was only £40 like new. It does raise the back end a bit more than the LC125 shock. As for handling I only blast round the country roads and it performs good enough for me. Jessy

Ive found a couple of SV650 shocks locally but both looks like this with a forked end, not like the 125 shown above... do i need a specific year SV650?

Hmmm.... Just seen that bare says: "Been there done that with the SV650 shocker. It CAN be drilled out to exactly match the OEM LC length. Bigger problem is that the spring is of a higher rate than the LC one (no real surprise the sv is a much heavier machine) BUT.. the Cheap Ass Chinese (yes!!) Shock hydraulics are even weaker/ shittier than the tired ones in my collection of 30 yr old LC shocks. In english a Crap upgrade ONLY redeeming feature is these are almost Free on Ebay as SV owners can't get rid of them fast enouigh. Now i know exactly why A complete Waste of Effort ... in my direct experience... the LC's handling becomes Much worse."

Hmmmm........... Was considering replacing my 125 shock with an SV one until I saw that. Not that a new shock (good or bad) could sort out my bad handling. A 125's (if not all standard lc's) handling is crap which ever way you look at it. Rode a Cagiva Mito the other day and could not believe how much confidence it gives you in the bends. I could take corners I usually do on my LC at 40 mph at 60 mph with out realising Sorry, I'm a newbie when it comes to road bikes but man I was blown away ;D I guess Mr yam had limited choices in the 80's when it came to his RD'd geometry. Won't be selling my LC though because I love it

an sv 1 has to be better than an lc 1 but probably best to uprate front springs to even it out.

Scott, Thats one of the reasons i wanted an upgrade, I have a set of 31k forks for this bike which are a little stiffer etc.
Ive been thinking a lot about this... I really cant see how the SV shock could be worse than what i have now which is a rusty mess. lol. I could strip and rebuild my original i guess... anyone done that sucessfully? but i do reckon it would cost more than a 1000miler sv shock to do that....

Have you got yours Scott? Im watching one on the bay as i type... hmm... Lcowner, Do you mean length or physically? This is an SV650 shock: Im assuming you can redrill the forked type mount and bolt that to the forked mount of the LC, there does look like enough meat on that fork to redrill it lower to avoid the length issue if you wanted as well.
