I thought these just bolted right on, or do I need a spacer?
I ask as I was about to start removing the old taper roller bearing parts that are on the LC frame and ive found the lower race is about 3 or 4mm up from the bottom of the headstock. I can do a photo if that doesnt make sense... should it be like that? Im now waiting for someone to say 'theyre all like that' lol.

Same bottom end, top yoke differs in the diameter of the fork holes.

Opps yes, youre quite right, sorry... Im using a full set of 31k forks (legs and triple trees).
What worried me was that the top bearing cup sat about 1mm up out of the socket, and the lower has a 3mm or so gap under the edge of the cup. I know these might not actually have been the correct bearings, but its strange that they seem to fit like this, the ones i took off my other bike were flush at the top and im sure the same at the bottom... perhaps im worried about nothing as the bearings and cups were just wrong on the old LC frame, hmm.... how deep should a bottom race be and should it be recessed into the headstock when fitted or flush with the bottom edge of the head?

Ok here are the pics... This is the top... check out that lip... This is the bottom... recessed about 5mm actually... I can measure if its important... And... how the hell do you get these out? there is no lip to get a drift onto :/

Pics look normal - that's just how they are.
As for getting the bottom 1 out, there is a number of options.
Weld something across it & bray it from the top
Or cut a slot out with a dremmel
Or (for the really rough handed) Shove a big blunt screwdriver in from the top & give it some welly, it will start to move if you get the blade in the join between the 2 bits.

Phew, thats good news. Just looked odd as all my other bikes im sure were more 'flush'.
Might try welding something to it and hitting the weld, seems the kindest to the frame to do that.
Cheers for the help.
