is it just me or is it normal for my f2 to either get a tank slapper or a wobble like mad on every " diagonally hatched" road marking that separates the 2 halves of the road and even the occasional cat eye? would a steering damper help or is there a technique to help ever come /avoid tank slappers as it come close to coming off a few times ..apart from avoid all road markings and cat eyes lol

theres only 2 tyre options for the f2s 18" wheels i believe bridgestones (which i have) and dunlops and maybe a few cheepo brands ,ANY of them diagonal road markings are a big no no or else its almost defenate to get wobble on,perhaps its partialy due to a very light rider/bike combo im only 10 stone ,just nice to see if any other's suffer from this?

Twostroker....i was going to post the exact same question. you beat me to it. I had a monster tankslapper today, Under hard accelleration & across white lines i got a real handful of head shake, don't mind saying that it made me sit up a bit, as soon as i got off the white lines it stopped Although i have noticed that if i manage to hit a pothole (hard not too around here) i can hear and feel a clonk coming from what seems to be the headstock, can't feel any play when stationary but it maybe that the headstock bearings on my F2 need inspection or maybe replacement! Tyres on mine are new Dunlops and the corresct size and pressures, talking of steering dampers, can anyone recommend a particular damper for the F2 bearing in mind stroke length / fitting inside the fairing without fouling anything when on full lock?

Oooohhh yeah mate, had a couple of butt clenching moments today, spoilt my ride a bit tbo, think i'll drop the forks out and go over the bearings anyway just for piece of mind really. May play with suspension settings too, i find the front a little soft when pressing on, and the rear a bit soft, so maybe this has something to do with it. Still want to fit a damper though, just got to get the right one.

Twostroker, took the front end off today, inspected bearings & all seemed ok, they looked new. So adjusted them as per specs, took the bike out to settle the bearings, came back and pinched the bolt a bit more as it felt a little loose, took the bike out to the road that gave the most trouble under hard accelleration & not a single sign of wobble / or head shake ;D seems all it needed was a bit of adjustment, yours could have the same problem my F2 had mate (if you haven't already done it). Still gonna play with suspension settings though till i get it how i want it.

I think it's cos you two are light weights ;D eat more burgers or fit a steering damper. On my first F2 hybrid when my mate who is 11 stone rode it, it got a wobble on when ridden over lines & a speed weave at around a ton, never happened with me riding it (16 stone) but I fitted a steering damper to stop him whinging and the problem went away.

Just about got mine sorted now, just a bit of slack in the bearings. Been playing with air pressures in the forks last couple of days, tbo i can't feel any difference with pressure or atmos As said before, these don't have the most sophisticated suspension setup, i would like the front end a bit firmer though, so will be looking into alternative springs / /oils, Not sure about lobbing all my loose change down the legs though if spacers are the way to go, i'll get my mate to turn up a couple of solid spacers on his lathe. Any recommendations as to suspension mods?? It's got a brand new OEM rear shock wich works quite well at the mo. I know that steering dampers mask problems, but i like'em anyway ;D (it's an add-on bling kinda thing for me)

Tank-slappers can come from badly worn tyres, incorrect tyre pressures, or something too loose or too tight in the steering or suspension area But if it only happens on acceleration, I would take a look at adding preload to the rear spring to lift the rear and put more load on the front tyre. Or If you think the rear suspension is either strong or hard enough already, then drop the front of the bike to put weight on the front tyre. Generally tank-slappers under hard acceleration only occur when the front is unloaded
