just bought a 1988 TZR125 - engine starts, runs OK BUT it will not rev beyond about 6K. This happens even if stationary i.e. with no load. Apart from general areas e.g. carb, are there anything specific areas (e.g. blocked main jet) that I should be looking at/trying? thanks

Check the powervalve isn't up side down. Common mistake, with people trying to peg them open

thanks sean. what position should the powervalve be in if I remove the end cap and have a look OR if I remove the exhaust and look up the exhaust port- what should I see (powervalve wise that is)?

If you remove the exhaust, it should be a smooth transition from the barrle to the exhaust port. It will stand out a mile if the valve is in wrong.
