Guys, where can I find the plans for the wooden engine stand that someone made please (possibly Dusty). I’m sure I’ve seen a drawing of what to make but I can’t find it now. Thanks Andy

I've built a few, all from offcuts I've had left over from DIY projects. I find them essential when building an engine; 20240410_201004 by dusty miller, on Flickr I use 3x2 CLS, which has a planed finish of 2.5" x 1.5", thought it doesn't really matter what size timber you use. Both lengths are 16cm long. The back timber sits low with a hole drilled for the sump bolt to sit into. The front timber sits higher as this keeps the engine cases on a more level aspect; 20240410_201111 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20240410_201120 by dusty miller, on Flickr Making the front timber 16cm long means it sits between the castings on the front underside of the cases, and allied with the sump bolt sat in the hole of the rear timber means it stays secure on the stand. I drill and countersink the ply underneath and screw through to secure the 2 timbers. Lidl often sell packs of felt discs for furniture legs etc - you can stick these underneath and it allows you to spin the stand around really easily; 20240410_201235 by dusty miller, on Flickr Hth Dusty

Thanks dusty, I use those felt pads on my dining chairs so have those and have got lots of off cuts of wood from a shed project so will have a play at knocking something up.

I have the delux version with pads on it. Like an comfy armchair for your engine.

I made a steel adaptor for an old MX foot lift. Its a bar that bolts to the tie bar holes. This then sits in the Mx stand with the lifting 'foot' mech parts removed and what is a basic H pattern bottom with a sticking up tube. All of square tube steel. I dont have a pic of mine handy, but its like one of these. you only need to make the bottom part which is easy and then a T part for the engine with some holes in it. simple work.
