Probability is either not enough fuel, blocked pilots from evaporated fuel gunge, or too much fuel and its flooded while standing.
Cleaning carbs is always a good idea, stuff can accumulate in the bottom of the float bowls, make sure pilots are clear.
If its flooded take both plugs out and push it around in first gear for a bit , with ignition off, to clear it.

If yes, then as above.

Mines a bit reluctant if it’s been left. I reckon it’s just sulking.
As I live at the top of a hill I just roll it down the hill and bump it. Normally that does the trick but it’s a long push if it’s not just having a sulk.

If there is the faint whiff of white spirit in the air around springtime, it usually means someone (me..) has pulled their bike out of the shed and tried to fire it up.. if thats the case drain the carbs and fill with fresh, but, will it fire if you give it a skoosh of brake cleaner in the carbs?

I`m always wary of fuel that is more than a few months old in two strokes, even if they run OK on it I wait till its got some fresh fuel in it before using high revs/load.
Probably not a problem with a totally stock RD engine , but anything modified might be susceptible to reduced octane of old fuel.
Holed enough pistons back in the 80`s racing to worry about things like that !

Started and ran an LC last week on something like 6 or 7 year old fuel from an old Chainsaw... Its one of my saws so I know it was BP Ultimate and Elf high end 2T oil, but was starting to smell bad. Bike started 3rd kick.
Dont recommend it really but would rather do that than use brake clean... there is no oil in that!

give it a blast of easy start and force it to start. Or ‘SYB’ as it’s known in certain circles! 😆
