I noticed that the exhaust port on the inside of the righthand cylinder has a square relief around it,if you understand what I'm trying to describe. I have two sets of barrels and they are both the same. Just wondering why??

Sounds like ring damage …

Yes, sounds like ring damage to me too. I had an RD200 cylinder that was the same. The exhaust port had been widened too much and the ring caught in it.

I've seen a few LC barrels like that
Almost like a section has been cut out above the exhaust port
No idea why 🤔

Here is a photo of what I mean and the piston that came out of it.I bought a complete top end that has been rebored and the port looks the same, just seems strange that both right barrels are the same. export by steven johnson, on Flickr piston by steven johnson, on Flickr

I thought it probably would be Any idea how it happened? Just interested to know. Why would someone have it rebored and then sell it as a perfect part? Beggers belief! I spoke to him on the phone before I bought it and seemed agenuine bloke, just hope he gives me my monet back.

They will be good donors for a resleeve/370.

It's been damaged but the rebore wasn't enough to take the damage out. It seems he was over optimistic.

Basically it’s due to a ring not being constrained as it should be, there’s a few permutations, front edge of the crown burning off as per your other picture, the ring itself breaking, the location pin coming out… All will look a little different but basically anything that allows more ring to get into the port or chatter whilst there will cut the port.. if the port was dressed a bit you could probably ‘ride out of the desert’ on it … but it’s defo not how it’s supposed to be !

it is more common on the 250's than the 350's for some reason, but have seen a good number of 350's like that
Can be fixed by a resleeve, or convert to a 370 as Rob has said, all of which I'll be doing in the next few months, got the YPVS barrels sorted for resleeve, now I am working on the 370 conversions, then onto 350 resleeve then the 250's last
Its sorting the liner design out which takes the time, once that's sorted and the pattern is made, its a fairly straight forward process, although cutting the ports is time consuming

Thanks for all the rplies. I've sent them back and getting a refund, which is a relief. I now need a good set of barrels and a head and I'll get them rebored ect myself. I think a resleeve would have to be a last resort, hopefully there is a descent set out there.
