Hi, I need an electrical wizard for some guidance. I have just got my 350 (4L0) started after rebuilt motor, new harness from Alen's electrics, both handlebar switches new (Fowlers), new ignition from Fowlers. Bike started 2nd kick (wow) ran really nice, warmed it up, switched the kill switch to off - nothing, key switch to off - nothing. WTF. wound the tick over out to stall the engine. The frame has been powder coated, I scrapped the coating off to get the coil mounted, so that should be earthed. All lights and horn work ok.
Not being electrical minded, but I checked the ignition and kill switch black wires in the headlight and the are giving a reading to earth. Im not really sure where to go now. Any help much appreciated.

the kill circuit is very simple.
The black/white wire from the kill switch is spliced and goes off to the ignition switch (black/white wire) and then also to the CDI connector block, again the black/white wire
You should have continuity across the 3 black/white wires
When the kill switch is set to "kill" then you should have continuity across the kill switch to ground, when the igntion switch is off then you should have continuity across the black/white wire and ground

Check the black/white wire at the CDi is going to ground when the ignition is off or the kill switch is set to kill.

Make sure you have a good connection with the black wire from the right switch (kill switch) as that's where the switch earth's the black/white wire through the wiring loom, just cause its all new doesn't mean it will just connect without any problems, could be some contamination on the bullets.
The black/white wire and the black wire from (right switch) kill switch should have continuity when in kill position.
Sounds like you have bad earth, the switch is not earthed through the handlebars as some think, all the earth's go back to the battery, except 1 that earth's to the frame by the coil.

The black wire is the earth. The black/white wire is the kill signal wire. If the black/white is connected to earth then the CDI will be killed and will stop producing a spark.

The black/white wire is the path to the earth (black wire) for cdi via the switches, on/off ignition and engine kill switches. Hope that is clear, I know I am not the best explaining stuff.

Am i correct in saying that the kill switch bridges black to black/white wires to stop the engine?

Am i correct in saying that the kill switch bridges black to black/white wires to stop the engine? Kill switch and ignition switch both do exactly that In simple terms it earth's out the black/white wire to the cdi Steve
