Any advice on fitting a power supply to my new shed (not got it yet) its going to be a workshop , im getting a kitchen fitted in the next couple of weeks so im going to run the power supply under the floor when its ripped out and leave it coiled up until the shed arrives, is there any regs i need to abide with?

I would imagine there's a bag full of regulations regarding that! An electrician will know.

Someone looking for a sparky 🧐
How far is the shed from where the cable will exit the house, will it run along a fence or be buried and what are you going to be using in the shed?

Oh and do you have a spare fuse on your DB, is it RCD protected

I do have a couple of spare fuses they are rcd,the cable will be buried and about 5m from the house , i was thinking i might get a lathe (usually after a couple of beers) i will get a parts washer and piller drill but it mainly for bike building as I don’t get peace in my garage these days whenever i open my garage i have a neighbour asking for help (they are all in their eighties)

Needs to be a steel wire armoured cable and needs to be buried 18 inches down
Lathes and drills don't actually draw much power (usually only 2 - 5a) and you can't use both at once lol
I only had a 2.5mm armour feeding my old garage with lathe, mill, pillar drill and compressor
2.5 easily takes 20 amp but then a 3kw fan heater draws 13a
Cable gets more expensive when you go to 4mm or 6mm but in an ideal scenario...

If you have a decent compressor it can be 1.5-3kw
Realistically you need 6mm as it will handle between 7 and 8 KW
Fit a 32a breaker and you can run a heater, compressor, a machine and some lights
At the shed end fit a 2 way consumer unit with a 6a for lighting and a 32a for sockets
Wire sockets around the shed in a ring main. One 2.5mm cable leaves the fuse box, loops in and out each socket then a second 2.5mm cable from the last socket back to the fuse box
Means you don't have to worry about what's plugged into each circuit like you do if you did a couple of radial circuits
Give me a shout if you need me

I've just ran a 10mm cable into my garage
It's integral so already has a lighting circuit fed from the house and a 2.5mm 20a radial circuit feeding 2 twin sockets on the LH wall and an out door socket
Also has a 6mm cable feeding an EV charger
The 10mm cable is feeding a 4 way DB feeding 3 circuits for the mill, the lathe, the compressor and some sockets on the RH side of the garage
4th circuit will feed my workshop via a 6mm armour. It will be heated with storage heaters on the EV night rate
Garage will be glowing with all that running 🤣

run a minimum of 6mm SWA (Steel Wired Armed), this will handle 32amps, your compressor will pull anything upto 15amps on its own if its a 3hp one, you want it on its own 32A RCD in the consumer unit (Fuse box), in the garage you then want to have a small 4 way Consumer unit, broken down into 1 x Light circuit (5A if using LEDs), 1 x Socket circuit (15A), 1 x machines (lathes etc) 15A), 1 x Compressor (20A) then every circuit is protected and should break before throwing the RCD in the consumer unit in the house, that should only throw if you have a major overload or an earth/neutral leakage issue
that's what I'd do anyway.........
