came across a 250lc that was used in some sort of pro am revival/classic class to support one of the national series recently. looks like a decent price given todays market for lc's. road registered and was used by alan carter, granted not at the peak of his career but intresting bonus none the less.

Just my 2c, but bear in mind that if you pay extra for racing provenance then you need to make sure its backed up and verified, otherwise its 'just another raced LC'.

FWIW Jon, I bought the seat from Steve Hislop’s road LC, and you’re right, without any form of provenance it’s just a used seat. I like the thought that the man himself sat on it though! 😁.

Haha, yep. I agree with you, if its for you its all good. But, it gets sticky when it comes time to let things go. Its a funny world with stuff like this. Not for your seat really, but lets use it as an example as we know eachother and I know me saying this wont upset you and it might if i talk about the bike above etc Eg. Could have been a totally different Steve Hislop as well of course, plenty of people with the same name running around the country etc. Now if the seat was signed... and came with a pic of 'The Steve' signing it and you in it as well... but with AI and photoshop I guess we cant trust that even. Not that in the LC world its worth bothering about of course. I did once see in the USA a Kenny bike that someone thought the signature decal was an actual sig and was selling the bike as 'signed by the man himself', er... FWIW I have Kenny's sig on my LC421, its not real. My wife says its signed by Kenny Loggins just to piss me off. lol Back to this bike in question... if the price is market price and there is no prov, then its all good. Stories about the bike are cool. I know the brother of the original (and only) owner of my 500 and spoke at length to him when they dropped it off. He told me lots of stories lol. Stories make a bike I reckon, its good to have em if they exist... but I doubt many of them add value to most of us, maybe its more personal like Bezzer's seat. For me if this pro am revival LC was raced by Johnny C then Id enjoy it more etc. Each to his own I guess, but I dont know Alan at all, yet I know Johnny from here.

Be careful there was something I posted a while ago about one and another forum member gave me the heads up it was nothing of the sort. There was actually a little controversy around the bike.

Its a shame they sold a few of the bikes off, so wont happen again.
However, I think the organisers missed a trick by not having young racers also take part against the old farts as it would had made things more interesting !
Best regards johnny C.
