I've made carbon parts, as well as pressure casting thousands of urethane parts. Is there anything that people would be interested in for LCs ? It would have to be something with a reasonable number of sales to make it worth making the moulds.
On a related note, I have CNC lathes and a Bridgeport VMC1000 CNC mill, so would consider metal parts too. This mill is pretty big, so modifying swinging arms or similar is possible, if there is demand for conversions.
I'm finishing my on-site workshop this summer, recent cancer has made it difficult for me to travel for work, so small scale manufacturing would be good for me.

Sorry to hear about your illness, I trust you are on the mend. Plastic parts are all available apart from a few minor items. Later LCs aren't so well catered for so I'd imagine there would be a market there. As for carbon...it's horses for courses. I think they look naff, others love them. Plus I bet they ain't cheap!

The one LC-related thing that would make my life complete (OK, I may be over-egging this a bit) is a set of the iconic swirly LC wheels that don't weigh a ton but look the same (forged aluminium with modern production methods?). And can take modern 17" tubeless tyres and are a bit wider than the originals. It's not much to ask, is it?

I think that's a bit beyond my abilities , unless someone can afford to have them machined from billet. I wonder though, if with the appropriate equipment the flanges on standard wheels could be rolled to be a bit wider. Cast aluminium can be deformed, I've seen damaged wheels reformed into shape.

He should have made Italic 17 inch wheels š Steve

I fancy a carbon headlamp bowl and oil /water pump cover which Norbo used to sell but are no longer stocked. Maybe worth speaking to Norbo and seeing whether he would stock/sell yours or failing that you could make them for me as a one off , just to keep your skills up Paying job of course.

Mr Catweasle, it seems like you have enough to start a little business already I won't be treading on any toes, I didn't know there was a parts supplier supporting the board. If I can make some parts for Norbos shop that's a different matter.

If I can make some parts for Norbos shop that's a different matter. Im sure Norbo would welcome you restocking his shop as when i asked he could no longer get carbon things made hence out of stock but probably never to be stocked again. Worth giving him a message and seeing if he is willing to retail for you.if not there seem plenty of lads wanting stuff from your little cottage industry. I do fully undesrtand you not wanting to upset anyone though, thats very gentlemanly of you.

He should have made Italic 17 inch wheels š Steve ..it is possible from a billet of material. Forged wheels maybe you could 'encourage' a little wider, but not cast as they're too brittle. The tyre bead needs a good seat, so I'd say not feasible to make an existing wheel wider to a width appropriate for a bigger tyre. A billet of material plus the associated programming and machining would run into the thousands per unit.
