Remove the gear lever clamp on the gear shaft. Then remove the whole left case. By looking at the old cable you will see how the new one fits. Worth buying a Haynes manual 👍🏻

Hopefully, you got an OEM Yamaha cable as all the after-market ones cause a stiff clutch lever.

And in the half of the engine do you have to take the engine out of the bike or can you repair this without taking the enging out Also is that a chuch where there is oil in it or without? Its a bit of a bummer that you have to take the engine apart for a cluch cable Greetings ronnie

The left hand case only covers the sprocket and flywheel, no oil in there and no need for the engine to come out
Clutch mechanism is bolted into the left case
Gen Yam cable only and not that expensive

Ronnie, it's worth buying a Haynes manual, and whilst not 100% correct it covers most things well like this. If you can afford a genuine cable, buy that as can save a lot of time, otherwise but best you can. Once you have changed it, hopefully you will be motivated to try other maintenance tasks, and slowly you will build up an expertise. Luckily these bikes are quite basic and can be maintained and rebuilt by those with some mechanical sympathy and keenness to learn. Good luck with it, and enjoy your ride outs.

^^^^ that one. Its not worth saving a tenner on a crappy copy unless you absolutely know what you are buying.

How does that compare to Norbo's Jap cable?
