Hi, Plan to get rebore YPVS cylinders which have a powder coated finish in nice condition... Any guidance on best way to protect the finish.. was thinking electrical tape around them to start... spoke to shop and he said they are careful when trying to retain the finish.. so great start
Any good ideas appreciated

if they clamp them where they a PCd they will crush the plastic of the coating and it will flake off, but they should clamp flat on the mating surfaces and be ok i would think.
Always good to protect things you care about, but check with the person doing the work. you dont want to give them 15mins work removing stuff youve put on before they do the job.

Just speak with who ever is doing the job, if they are good they will understand, no need to try and protect anything
When i have jobs in like this we take care of them, and we dont put them though our "hot wash tank" we just wash them in the paraffin wash, blow off and let them air dry.

thanks.. yep good point don't want to cause them grief in having to remove stuff.... might just wrap some electrical tape around them to stop any knocks etc..

The honing oil / paraffin wash will turn the tape into a sticky mess. If you are taking them in person just have a chat with the company, if you are posting them just make sure you pack them up well.
